Kardec Group invites you to SPIRITISMx, a seminar of short and insightful talks that helps us reflect on our spirituality and personal development, looking at various topics from within the view of the Spiritist teachings.
SPIRITISMx 2024: All We Need is Love will give us the opportunity to understand the power of love, and how it can contribute to our individual journeys and our self-improvement.

What to Expect
Join us in Oxford on Saturday 29th June and Sunday 30th June for two days of short talks, meditations and the Allan Kardec Film Festival, a cultural exhibition of films relevant to the Spiritist and Spiritualist philosophies. For this year, the films are related to the Brazilian medium Francisco Candido ‘Chico’ Xavier, and are produced by film director Wagner de Assis, who will also be present for Q&As about his works.

Take a moment to pause and relax with guided meditations led by Lorraine Reeves-McLaren.
On our journey of self-discovery, one of the most important things we need to learn to develop is the ability to calm our minds.
Starting with short moments of breathing and relaxation, the daily habit of meditation can, over time, provide us with a more focused mind, a better flow of thought, and the clarity and calmness we need to face day-to-day challenges, as well as giving us better perception of the beauty of life and nature.
ALLAN KARDEC FILM FESTIVAL with WAGNER DE ASSIS
This cultural exhibition of films is a unique opportunity to see films related to the Brazilian medium Francisco Candido ‘Chico’ Xavier and two of his very well-known novels from the André Luiz series “Life in the Spirit World”. After the films, we will have a Q&A session with the producer and director of the films, Wagner de Assis.
Please note that the Allan Kardec Film Festival is part of SPIRITISMx 2024 and is not a separate event.
Films to be shown:
- Chico Para Sempre (“Chico Forever”) – 2022. A documentary about Brazilian medium Francisco Candido ‘Chico’ Xavier, his life, his mediumship and his work.
- Nosso Lar (“Astral City – A Spiritual Journey”) – 2010. Dramatisation of the book ‘Astral City’ (Nosso Lar) about the spirit André Luiz, who learns more about himself and the afterlife.
- Nosso Lar 2: Os Mensageiros (“Astral City 2 – The Messengers”) – 2024. Dramatisation of the book ‘The Messengers’ by the spirit André Luiz, which follows his observations about mediumship from the perspective of the afterlife, and his work in helping three people on the physical plane.
All films will be provided with English subtitles.
BOOKSHOP and SIGNINGS
Amelie’s Bookshop will be open during the event, where you can purchase new and second-hand Spiritist books. Some of the speakers and presenters may be available to sign copies of their books, which will also be available for purchase.

Location
The event will be held at Holiday Inn Oxford, Peartree Roundabout, Oxford, OX2 8JD.
The hotel is just outside Oxford city centre, and minutes from the Cotswold borders, near to quaint rural villages and attractions such as Blenheim Palace.
🚙 For those travelling by car, the venue on the can be reached on the A34 from the M40 (Bicester) and M4 motorways (Newbury). Parking is free for attendees. There is ample on-site parking and attendees will be given a QR code to register their car during the event.
🚂 If travelling by train, you can get a short taxi ride from Oxford Parkway train station, or take the 300 bus from Oxford centre to the Peartree Park & Ride.
✈️ The nearest airports are London Heathrow, Luton and Birmingham.
Food & Hotel
Accommodation
Attendees wishing to stay at the Holiday Inn are recommended to book accommodation as soon as possible. Visit the hotel website.
Other hotels are available in Oxford, Bicester, Kidlington, and the surrounding areas, including Travelodge, Premier Inn, etc.
Catering
Tea, coffee, water, and snacks are included in the ticket price, and will be available at certain breaks during the event.
Kardec Group recommends all attendees to pre-pay for a sandwich buffet (sandwiches, wraps, salad, and fruit) at ticket checkout. This buffet will be supplied by the venue. Please inform Kardec Group of any dietary restrictions.
The Holiday Inn Oxford has an on-site restaurant and bar, and attendees can also pre-order food to help avoid delays during the lunch break.
Important note: Only food purchased at the venue may be consumed in the venue during the event.
Oxford Peartree services is located next to the venue, where you can find Greggs, Mini Waitrose, KFC and Krispy Kreme. Other food outlets are available nearby in Summertown, only a few minutes travel from the venue.

- Tickets are individual and untransferable.
- All talks will be in English, and all films in the Allan Kardec Film Festival will be provided with English subtitles.
- The Allan Kardec Film Festival is presented as part of SPIRITISMx and is a cultural exhibition of works relevant to the main event. It is not possible to get tickets just for the Allan Kardec Film Festival.
